Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has cautioned Coast residents against voting for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August polls.
Speaking during a NASA campaign rally in Mariakani, Kilifi County on Thursday, the Governor asked the residents not to gift Uhuru with a second term in office, despite his frequent visits in the region to entice them.
He, however, told the NASA supporters to take the President’s money, saying he has a lot of it.
“When Uhuru visits, let him know that he is coming as a tourist. He has a lot of money for you to take. Take the money and vote Jubilee out,” said Joho.
He further criticised Uhuru for boasting about projects that were initiated by past regimes.
Joho said the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) was initiated by the grand coalition government under the leadership of former President Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and not the Jubilee administration.
“When you marry a lady who sired a child from a previous relationship, accept that you are a step- father because you did not sire that child.
Jubilee should accept that SGR and the Matiakani-Mavueni road they are boasting of is not their ‘child’,” said Joho, as quoted by The Star.
